Three ways into Theth

Begin with village life, follow the water to the valley’s natural landmarks and understand the trails that connect Theth to the wider Alps.

The village beneath the peaks

Theth sits in a steep limestone basin where guesthouses, farm plots and the landmark church remain part of a lived-in mountain community. The valley feels dramatic, but its scale invites slow exploration on foot.

Stay overnight if you can: early and late light reveal a quieter valley beyond the rhythm of day visitors.

Water shapes the valley

Grunas Waterfall drops through a narrow rock face near the village, while the Blue Eye of Theth rewards a longer outing toward Nderlysaj. Together they show how snowmelt and limestone carve the park.

Trail surfaces can be slick near water. Check current conditions locally and allow more time than a map’s distance alone suggests.

Limestone peaks rise directly around the village.

Trails into the Albanian Alps

Theth is the eastern trailhead of the celebrated route to Valbona Pass, as well as a base for shorter valley walks. Weather, snow and transport logistics matter here more than mileage alone.

For the Valbona crossing, start early, carry proper layers and confirm seasonal trail and transfer conditions before committing.
